Couple caught on camera stealing a model dinosaur from a museum
A YOUNG COUPLE have been arrested for stealing a model baby dinosaur from a museum exhibit in the US.
Todd Ritchey and Alyssa Ann Lavacca, both 21, were caught on CCTV taking a €7,400 model of a baby Edmontosaurus from a natural history museum in North Carolina.
Video footage shows Ritchey climbing over the railings of the exhibit and taking the model from a replica nest – he then hands it to Lavacca, who stuffs it into her handbag.
The museum released the footage on Wednesday, and asked for any help in identifying the two thieves.
The Charlotte Observer reports that on Thursday morning, an ‘unidentified male’ dropped off a bag containing the stolen model dinosaur at the rear entrance of the museum.
The couple then turned themselves in to police.
It wasn’t the only crime they’d committed that day – according to police they are the main suspects in another robbery at a separate history museum, where props including fake cabbage and lettuce and an antique medicine bottle were taken.
We have just one thing to say to them…
